About Me

Though I was born and raised in a small fishing town called Eufaula, my obsession with film and film studies began when I was in high school; I had started working minimum wage jobs and, having some disposable income for the first time in my life, began a habit of spending it at movie theaters and on secondhand DVD and Blu-Ray copies of films that still sit on my shelf today. It wasn't until my junior year of college - when I was encouraged to write my first academic work on cinema about Spike Lee's polarizing film Chi-Raq - that I realized that this obsession could function not just as a hobby, but also as a career. I'd go on to write about Stanley Kubrick for my senior thesis before focusing primarily on identity on film for my graduate studies, even going so far as to be published in Bright Lights Film Journal during my first year. This site aims to adequately display the work that I've done - both in the realm of writing and beyond - during my graduate studies; in addition, I hope for it to also showcase the work that I hope to do going forward as a writer and instructor.
